Award #1: The Weemsy of the Year - The Person Who Said the Most Ridiculous and/or Demonstrably False Statements About U.S. History– Donald J. Trump. This former president and current president-elect racked up a record 9 nominations for 1) comparing imprisoned January 6 rioters to Japanese Americans held in internment prison camps during World War II; 2) claiming his January 6 crowd was larger than the one that gathered to hear MLK’s “I Have A Dream” speech; 3) complaining that he's been treated worse than Abraham Lincoln; 4) arguing that Lincoln should have negotiated to avoid the Civil War; 5) saying he’s been the “best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln”; 6) declaring that NC candidate for governor Mark Robinson, who described himself as a Black Nazi who would own slaves if slavery was still legal, was MLK “on steroids”; 7) offering a bizarre description of the Battle of Gettysburg and adding a fake quote by Robert E. Lee for good measure; 8) claiming that he’s done more for Israel than any US president, or any person; 9) arguing that the Founders, who created impeachment and a system of checks and balances to limit presidential power, wanted presidential immunity.

Runner-up: Nikki Haley for 1) refusing to say that slavery was the cause of the Civil War; 2) saying the US has “never been a racist country"; and 3) claiming that Texas could secede from the US if it wanted.
Award #2: Most Absurd Claim About the Founders in 2024 – Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene for saying that “Our Founding Fathers would’ve been considered Christian Nationalists.”
